WSCA Sports Council
Purpose
- To educate and increase awareness of the
benefits of chiropractic to the sports community in Washington State.
- To work together with WSCA Board of Directors
regarding legislative and policy changes to increase the ability for
chiropractic doctors to practice in an environment that is more open to
sports related chiropractic care.
- To allow chiropractors to work at various
sporting events, big or small, profit or non-profit; to provide
chiropractic care, triage and any other necessary duties within the
chiropractic scope of practice, and needed by the event.
- To pool the resources of chiropractic doctors
around the state to promote chiropractic in the sports community.
- To use the network of Chiropractic Sports
Physicians to identify sporting events throughout the year.
Short-Term Goals
- Re-build the membership of WSCA and the WSCA
Sports Council.
- Strengthen the relationship between WSCA
Board of Directors and WSCA Sports Council.
Long-Term Goals
- Maintain a large network of active
participating chiropractic sports physicians throughout the state.
- Continuing increased awareness of the
benefits of chiropractic care in the sports community.
- Maintain participation at sporting events on
many levels around the state continually.
- Earn our way into the professional sports
arenas.
 Members of the Council
The WSCA
Sports Council will have two categories of membership. Members will be
identified with their status as Active or Inactive members with WSCA.
All chiropractic doctors in Washington State are eligible to be members
of the WSCA Sports Council however, an annual fee differential will be
offered for WSCA Active members. All members of the WSCA Sports Council
will file a copy of their medical malpractice certificate with WSCA on
an annual basis.
Leadership
Co-coordinators
for the WSCA Sports Council shall be appointed by the WSCA Board of
Directors. WSCA Inactive members are not eligible to be appointed
co-coordinators of the WSCA Sports Council. Chiropractic Doctors shall
show interest in being a co-coordinator of the WSCA Sports Council by
submitting a letter to the WSCA President and the WSCA Executive
Director.
Committee must report to the WSCA
board at least bi-annually.
Plexus reports written
periodically to keep the general membership informed.
Association Support
WSCA
Sports Council events shall be identified to WSCA Membership Director
for coordination of advertising of those events. Advertising for WSCA
Sports Council events will include notification in Plexus, WSCA Web
Site, and mailers. Other means of notification may be considered
including broadcast fax and email.
Events must be identified to WSCA
staff within eight weeks of an event so appropriate support can be
provided. WSCA Sports Council will identify which events are annual and
to be posted on WSCA Calendar of Events throughout the year.
WSCA staff will assist in
identifying local coordinators for specific events as well as assisting
to build relationships with sporting associations and organizations.
Funding
WSCA
Active members may participate as members of the WSCA Sports Council by
paying a $50.00 annual dues to WSCA.
WSCA Inactive members may
participate as members of the WSCA Sports Council by paying a $150.00
annual dues to WSCA.
Benefits
WSCA
Active Sports Council members will receive a WSCA Sports Council
T-shirt, use of the WSCA Sports Council Banners for events, and access
to an event kit which shall include athletic tape, hot and cold packs,
and other items necessary to provide appropriate support at an event.
WSCA Inactive Sports Council
members will be allowed use of all supplies when the event is sponsored
by the WSCA Sports Council.
Event Set-Up And Protocol
- Each event will have a coordinator who is the
main contact with the event staff, and WSCA staff.
- Each event coordinator will be responsible
for coordinating pick-up and return of the Event Kit, tables and banners
from WSCA.
- Event coordinators will be responsible for
scheduling DC’s for their event.
- Event coordinator will have a check list of
things to do for each event.
