Our Choice, Our Ally: Governor Chris Gregoire

The Washington State Chiropractic Association (WSCA) and the Washington Chiropractic Trust (WCT), both non-partisan organizations, are proud to offer their full support to Governor Chris Gregoire. Despite aggressive opposition from large business interests such as Boeing, Weyerhaeuser, and Microsoft, Governor Gregoire has stood shoulder to shoulder with Washington State chiropractors and their patients. Her unwavering commitment to chiropractic makes her the only choice for chiropractors and their patients in November.

Please consider printing this endorsement notice and sharing it with your patients.

Appointments to Governmental Committees and Commissions

Dr. Jason HoldahlThe Chiropractic Community suffered a blow last week when one of it's own sustained a devastating injury while boating with family and friends.

Dr. Jason Holdahl, a Palmer graduate, has been working in the Woodland area for about five years. On Sunday, July 12, shattered his C-7 vertebrae and fractured his T-1 vertebrae, the spinal cord was pinched and punctured with a piece of bone. He was taken by Life Flight to the hospital and went into emergency surgery later that night. They built C-7 with pieces of his bone and other material and screwed plates in place to hold C-7 and T-1 together. Dr. Holdahl is still heavily sedated from surgery, however this morning when the hospital staff woke him up, he began pointing at things.

Not surprisingly, the Chiropractic Community has already sprung into action. Dr. Don Stout, who practices in Ridgefield, has volunteered to cover Dr. Holdahl's patient load until further notice. If you have any questions or encouraging comments for the doctor please contact Dr. Stout at the office during business hours at (360) 225-1200 or katiehfc@hotmail.com.

More importantly, a website has been set up to help Dr. Holdahl. We strongly urge you to consider making a donation by visiting http://jasonholdahlrecovery.com/donation.html.

The WSCA will continue to provide updates and is committed to helping Dr. Holdahl recover in any way possible.

In Winter 2007, WSCA Board of Directors formed an Insurance Committee to help work on some of the questions that we've been receiving from our members and to work more closely with the Insurance Carriers to define and explain some of the billing procedures, as well as billing code usage. The committee drafted letters to Regence and Premera prior to our 2008 Winter Conference in order to gather information and clarify certain billing codes. You can read the letter on the insurance page of our website.

The Insurance Committee is continuing to meet and is currently looking for additional members who would like to participate. If you are a member of the WSCA and would like to learn more information about this position, please email us at: insurance@chirohealth.org. Additionally, if you have insurance questions or concerns that you think the committee should address, you may also send comments to the insurance email address.
