• By now, most of you have heard that Regence just announced it will no longer be reimbursing for PT codes rendered by chiropractors. This change has the potential to devastate many DCs’ practices in our state.
  • The WSCA has been inundated with messages about this and I want to assure you that we’re actively working on it. We’re still doing our research, talking with Regence, and conferring with the Office of the Insurance Commissioner; but it will take us a little time to get to the bottom of it.
  • In the meantime, continue billing those codes as you provide those services. When this is resolved, you’ll need to have billed them to get back reimbursements down the road.
  • We’ll have more information for you in next week’s newsletter, but for now, here’s what you can do to help—go to www.oic.wa.gov and file a complaint. When you do that, be sure to state that this change by Regence violates Washington’s “Every Type of Provider” law and it will ultimately affect the public’s access to these services.
  • And don’t just have one doctor in your clinic file a complaint—have every one of them do it.
  • The OIC is more responsive when it is clear to them that there is a problem. In that sense, filing those complaints is a numbers game. Not only does OIC need to see that, but all of those complaints need to be on record so that when and if lawmakers need to get involved, it will be clear to them that this is a massive problem affecting more than a few providers, and more than just your profession.
  • As I said, we’ll have more information for you in next Wednesday’s newsletter, so stay tuned.
